Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles beat the Republic of Benin by two goals to nil on Saturday, 19th August, 2017, to secure a place in the African Nations Championship slated to hold in Kenya come 2018.
Nigeria sealed their place by winning on a total aggregate of 2-1 after losing 1-0 to Benin in the first leg of the match in Cotonou last week.
Dignitaries present at the Stadium included the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, the League Management Company Chairman, Shehu Dikko, and Kano State Deputy Governor, Hafiz Abubakar. Many fans were also present to cheer the Eagles.
After the match, the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, said that dedication, good team spirit and mental strength were responsible for the team’s victory.
