The Lagos State Government, today, Wednesday, said that, at least, 70 trailer-loads of Lake Rice will have arrived the State by the period of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
The State’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Toyin Suarau, speaking to journalists, said that the State Government has put everything in place to ensure that Lagosians are able to buy the Lake Rice without much hassles. He said that there were already over 30 trailer-loads in the State, and that it would be about 40 by Friday, and up to 70 trucks by next week. He also said that there would be more coming into the State, even after the Sallah period.
The Commissioner said that the rice would be on sale in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas, so that residents who wish to buy can do so without having to travel far.
The Commissioner also made it known that the rice would also be available at LTV Blue Roof Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja, at the prices of N12,000 for 50kg, N6,000 for 25kg and N2,500 for 10kg bags.
Mr Suarau affirmed that the sale of the Lake Rice would start on Thursday, being flagged off at the State’s Agricultural Development Authority Complex in Oko-Oba, Agege while other Local Government centres would follow suit.
