The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his absolute sympathy for the victims of an auto crash that occurred on Tuesday, along Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City, Edo State, claiming nine lives.

The Governor, who received the news in sadness, said that particularly painful was the fact that the unfortunate incident occurred early in the morning when the people were only just setting out in search of their daily bread.

He also made it known that new traffic wardens have been undergoing training, and would soon be unveiled by the State, to keep a check on reckless driving and unprofessional conducts by drivers on the roads.

He said that there were no words adequate to express the grief the families of the victims have been thrust into, but assured that the Government stands with them in this desperately difficult time.

“Our prayers are with the friends and families of the victims as well as the entire Edo people in this trying time and our pledge to do all in our power to improve living conditions in the State remains unshaken,” he said.
