Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named UEFA’s Best Men’s Player in Europe for the 2016-2017 Season after a campaign which saw him help the club to the La Liga and Champions League double last season.
This marks the third time that the Portuguese has won the award, which was presented at the conclusion of the UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on August, 24, 2017. He won the award in 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 too.
Ronaldo said that the trophy will give him the motivation to keep working hard, and never to give up. “I am blessed and delighted to be with Real Madrid,” he said.
Gianluigi Buffon, Juventus goalkeeper and captain, was second in the voting while Messi, who has won the award two times, came third this time around.
