A new Vice chancellor to take over the reins of the University of Ilorin has been named. He is Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem of the Department of Chemical Engineering. He is to take over for the next five years from the present VC, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali   whose tenure will elapse later this year by October 15.

The university’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Abdullahi Oyekan made this disclosure at a press briefing today, August 28.

Prof Abdulkareem had an edge over other contenders for the position as he had previously been a VC of Alhikmah University in Ilorin.

The incoming VC was born in Oro, Irepodun Local Government of Kwara state in 1954. He served as Director of SIWES in Unilorin between 2000-2008; Dean, Student Affairs 2008-2010 and a couple of other positions.
