Former US President, Barack Obama, has expressed his disagreement with President Donald Trump’s decision to end an amnesty for 800,000 people brought to America illegally as children, describing the decision as “wrong”, “self-defeating” and “cruel”.
The former President expressed this in a Facebook post.
“To target these young people is wrong – because they have done nothing wrong. It is self-defeating – because they want to start new businesses, staff our labs, serve in our Military, and otherwise contribute to the country we love. And it is cruel,” he wrote.
Of note is the fact that, during his final White House News Conference on 18th January, 2017, Obama said that he wanted to stay out of the spotlight, but he listed conditions that might cause him to break his silence. Among those conditions was “efforts to round up kids who have grown up here and, for all practical purposes, are American kids, and send them someplace else.”
