The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has called for the creation of an additional State in the South-East Zone, saying that the current agitations in the zone by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had been fulled by the ill-feeling of not belonging in the scheme of things.
The call was made by the Spokesman of the Party in the State, Chief Osita Okechukwu, while stating the position of the Zone to the APC Committee on True Federalism and Restructuring on Monday in Enugu.
Okechukwu said that the South-East Zone needed to have six States too in order to be level with other Zones.
He also urged the Government to modernise the rail gauge in the Enugu-Port Harcourt rail, and revamp Enugu Coal Mine.
Considering the topic of restructuring, Okechukwu also said that the Chapter was in support of Local Government autonomy both in administration and finance.
