The Management of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has dismissed any speculations that the dismissal of 17 members of their staff, which included Dr Isaac Akinloye Oyewunmi and Dr Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, LASU Chapter, was manipulative or political.
Even though it was reported that the staff were dismissed due to offences bordering on the demand of bribes, doctoring of Certificates and falsification of results/grades, the former leaders of ASUU-LASU have said that their sack was vindictive and politically masterminded.
However, in a press briefing held in the school premises, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Lanre Fagbohun, reacted to the accusation, saying that due process was followed in the sack of the erring staff.
Prof Fagbohun called for any aggrieved sack staff to tackle the situation legally. He also seized the opportunity to state that there was no plan to increase tuition fees at the University.
