L-R: Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State; and the Director General of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Olusegun Oshinowo during the donation of training equipment to Government Science and Technical College (GSTC) in Benin City, by Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
Obaseki said this while receiving training equipment donated by the Industrial Trust Fund (ITF) and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) to Government Science and Technical College (GSTC), Benin City, on Tuesday.
The Governor said that Nigeria cannot attain development based on paper certificate alone but rather based on the skills to make impact.
He then revealed that the main focus of his administration with respect to education, is basic and technical education, which is why the Government kick-started rehabilitation of the Technical College.
“On completion of the ongoing reconstruction of this College, we will have an Institution that will produce between two to five thousand well-trained technicians yearly,” the Governor said.
The Director-General of NECA, Mr Olusegun Oshinowo commended the administration for the attention given to vocational education in the State.
