Just three days after Nigeria celebrated the anniversary of her 57th year of Independence, the people of Kwara State took to the streets to protest against the influence of Senate President, Bukola Saraki on the State, apparently because they seek their independence too.
This protest took place on Wednesday, 4th October, 2017. The protesters, most of whom were women and youth, said that they were tired of their alleged political imprisonment by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The angry youths marched across the streets, armed with placards carrying various inscriptions.
Saraki was a Governor of the State for eight years before eventually moving to the Senate and becoming the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly.
The youths said that they believed that he made Abdulfatah Ahmed the Governor of the State in order to continue to wield influence on the State.
