House of Reps in rowdy session over President Buhari’s Letter on Budget presentation

President Muhammadu Buhari said in a letter to the National Assembly, that he intended to present an estimate of the 2018 Budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on 7th November.

Shouts of ‘No, No, No’ filled the air at the House of Representatives Chambers as the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, read the letter from the President.

Hardly had the Speaker finished reading the letter than the Lawmakers started the objection. However, they did not state in clear terms, what exactly their objections were to the Letter from the President.

In response to the uproar which lasted for about 60 seconds, the Speaker reminded the House that they had no legal right to prevent the President from addressing the joint session of the National Assembly.
