Nigerian twitter user @Ozo1Naija took to his account to share proof of the increasing rate at which drug abuse is becoming normal to youths. Sharing these empty codeine bottles he found on the streets of Abuja.
He wrote,
“Are We Winning This War Against Drug Abuse At All? I Walked About 300 metres This Morning In Gwarinpa (Abuja) And Counted Over 100 Emptied Bottles Of Codeine And Other Substances Disposed In The Drainage Ways Of One Street.
They Tend To Take These Substances And Further Endanger The Lives Of Those Who They Come In Contact With. Most Of These Drug Abusers Are Still Teenagers. Those Who Sell These Codeine Substances Need To Be Checked. They Make So Much Profit From The Sale Of It Than They Make Selling Any Other Item They Have In Their Pharmacy”
