Members of the Kano State APC Caucus in the National Assembly have pledged loyalty and support to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The members said they had passed a vote of confidence on the governor, who they said “has performed very well.”
They equally pledged to surpass the five million votes that the state governor promised to deliver for Buhari.
Addressing a press conference at the National Assembly yesterday, Co-Chairman of the caucus, Sen. Kabiru Gaya, said Ganduje would not be distracted by the antics of the opposition.
Sen. Gaya said, “We have viewed with satisfaction the exemplary performance of Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje since he assumed the mantle of leadership almost four years ago.
“The governor, who hit the ground running immediately after he assumed office proved bookmakers wrong with the speed with which he initiated and completed projects in the state.
“We, therefore, make bold to say that the leadership of Dr. Ganduje has brought unprecedented socio-economic development to Kano State such as never experienced. His footprints are boldly and clearly evident in roads, education, health, rural development and human capital development.”
They said no amount of blackmail and subterfuge could distract the governor from doing the good work he had been doing in the state, and called on the opposition to “desist from towing the devilish path of character assassination and outright falsehood.”
Asked about the bribe-collecting videos of the governor which had gone viral, the Kano APC lawmakers said they would not comment on the matter as it was before a court of law.
Although there were two senators and 14 House of Representatives members in the caucus, it was observed that only the two senators and five reps attended the press conference, while nine reps were not present.
