President Muhammadu Buhari has said that of the three agenda promised for Nigerians in 2015 campaign, fighting corruption became the greatest headache to execute. The President made the disclosure in Gusau, while addressing a large crowd in his continued state rally. He said that fighting corruption became the most difficult agenda to execute unlike security and economy that were executed successfully. According to him, during his military era as head of state, those corrupt politicians caught were automatically jailed, stressing that “in return, those corrupt politicians were released and also returned the money to them after I was overthrown.”
He said that fighting corruption in the country now has been difficult, but has gained success as those corrupt people caught have returned what they have stolen and the seized properties would be auctioned and put the money in to government treasury. “I have now directed that any corrupt politicians caught and be taken to court, the money stolen and the properties after being put to auction and the money be put in to government treasury to be use in the roads construction and other benefits for the people in the country”, the president said.
The President further said security and economy achieved monumental success as according to him, the inherited Boko Haram issue from the previous administration which heated up the North Eastern part of the country has drastically reduced to the minimum. He maintained that on the economy, the country has made monumental success through agricultural boom, adding that in the past three years, there were more farming, which increased food security in the country. The President called on the people of Zamfara to come out en mass and vote for APC on February 16 and March 2 to enable him continue with programs that would provide dividend of democracy to Nigerians.
