The Independent National Electoral Commission has ordered the extension of voting time for some polling units which experienced delay due to technical challenges and complaints, including malfunctioning of card readers.
The commission expressed confidence that most of these cases will be rectified.
INEC Commissioner and chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, stated these on Saturday while giving an update on the ongoing elections.
He said, “Every place where we experience challenges would be granted an extension, by the number of hours lost. If a polling unit is supposed to be activated at 8:00 a.m. and starts by 12 Noon, four hours will be added.
“Any place there are security challenges and we can’t deploy materials and personnel, the commission will take an action on those areas.”
