A yet-to-be-identified victim has been rescued by operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency when a building collapsed in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.
The victim, who was said to have sustained injuries as a result of the incident that happened in the early hours of Thursday, was receiving medical attention.
PUNCH Metro learnt that some parts of the two-storey building collapsed because it was old, adding that plans were already in place to pull it down to prevent further calamity.
When contacted, the Chief Executive Officer, LASEMA, Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said emergency responders at the scene of the incident had rescued a victim. He added that the building would be pulled down.
Oke-Osanyintolu said, “It was a partial building collapse which involved just one casualty. The person was injured and have been rescued. It is an old distress building, so some part of it collapsed and we are going to pull it down.”
