Magu: We’ve no reaction to judgement –EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said it would not react to the judgement affirming the power of the Senate to confirm or reject nomination of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the EFCC.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had, in a suit brought before it by a lawyer, held that the Senate had acted within its power, when it refused to confirm the nomination of Magu for appointment as substantive chairman.

Asked to react to the development, the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said the antigraft agency did not institute the suit, and so could not react.

Uwujaren further stated that, as the appointing authority, it was the responsibility of the presidency to respond, should it deem it fit to so do. “What do you want me to react to? What do you want the commission to react to?

We were not the ones that went to court, and the commission does not appoint the chairman. “So, what are we reacting to? It’s the presidency that should react, if it wants to react;they are the ones that appoint,” Uwujaren said.
