Former Military President General Ibrahim Babangida and General Theophilus Danjuma yesterday had a closed door meeting that lasted up till three hours at his hill-top mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital. It was gathered that General Danjuma arrived at the Minna airport at exactly 11:45am and was driven straight to the uphill home of Babangida and was ushered into the private parlour.
A reliable source close to the uphill mansion said the meeting, which took place at the inner parlour, lasted for about three hours. Findings have it that they went into the meeting about 1pm after having their launch and asked every other guests that accompanied the visitor (Danjuma) to excuse them.
It was gathered that the meeting ended at exactly 4:05pm and Danjuma made straight to his host private Mercedes Benz E class that brought him from the airport and zoomed off. Journalists were caught unawares by the visit, but our source in the home said the meeting might not be unconnected with the current security and political situations in the country.
The source said: “I am very sure that they must have discussed the general situation in the country, both security and the political situation. “Nobody was in the parlour with them, it was only the two of them. The meeting started after they had lunch together and it lasted for about three hours. “General Danjuma left the house exactly 4:05 and was driven straight to the airport, that is all I can tell you about the visit. He was actually here and they met.”
