UTME: JAMB withholds results of 111,981 candidates

Following intense pressure from members of the public, especially candidates, who took part in the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has revealed the details of the results released so far.

JAMB said a total of 111,981 candidates currently have their results being withheld for further screening, saying until they were cleared of any irregularity by the Board through the CCTV footage, it would not rush to release the said results.

Meanwhile, according to JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs Unit, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, a total of 1,502,978 candidates of 1,652,825 who registered for the examination, have had their results fully processed and released as at yesterday, March 20.

He said: “After viewing all CCTV footage during the conduct of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and considering reports from our supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians who took interest in promoting the quality of public examination in Nigeria, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 1,502,978 candidates, who sat for the 2018 UTME.

“A total of 1,652,825 candidates had indicated interest by registering for the examination, but a total 112,331 candidates’ results are yet to be released out of which 350 are the results of the blind candidates which would be released soon. However, 111,981 results are currently withheld for further screening.”

The examination body, however, noted that the results of the candidates mentioned exclude those of the foreign candidates, who would sit their exams in April.
