President Buhari on Thursday, signed the #NotTooYoungToRun bill, reducing the minimum age to run for President from 40 to 35 years, State and Federal representatives from 30 to 25. Senator and governorship age limits remain the same – 30 years of age.
Shortly after Buhari made history, former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, reacted to the signing of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run bill into law at the Aso Rock presidential villa, Abuja.
Atiku, in a tweet posted on his official handle, said he welcomes the signing of the bill into law, and also congratulated Hon. Tony Nwulu, who sponsored the bill.
He wrote; “I welcome the signing of the #NotTooYoungToRun bill into law. I also congratulate Hon @tonynwulu who sponsored the bill.
“Importantly, today’s milestone is proof of the resilience & intrinsic hardworking nature of the everyday Nigerian youth who worked to make this a success.”
