Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed the sum of N2.3bn to the six Area Councils in the FCT and other stakeholders as its share of statutory allocation for the month of April. The figures show a marked increase of M100 million over the figure for March.
FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa who dropped the hint on Friday in his office at Area 11, Garki, Abuja during the Joint Area Councils Allocation Committee(JAAC) meeting, tasked the council Chairmen to ensure judicious utilization of funds disbursed to the Councils.
He further harped on the need for the Council Chairmen to redouble their efforts towards providing improved services to the people at the grassroots level in demonstration of the gains of the change agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari government.
The figure shows that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) received 198millionaire, while Gwagwalada got 181millionaire and Kuje received 156millionaire.
Similarly, Bwari Area Council received 150millionaire, Abaji got 143million and Kwali received 135millionaire.
Furthermore, other statutory deductions from the release include: Primary Teachers gulped 1bn, 15% Pension Funds took 226millionaire, 1% Training Fund gulped 23millionaire and 10% Employer Pension Contribution.
The figure shows that April allocation is higher than March allocation by 100millionaire.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Kwali Area Council, who also double as the Chairman of FCT Chapter of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joseph Kwali Shazin thanked the leadership of the FCT Administration for always ensuring that all the Area Councils get their allocation full and in good time.
Mr.Shazin assured the FCT Administration that the Area Councils would ensure the funds are prudently utilized.
