Suspected herdsmen abduct Delta monarch

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly abducted Sunday Olisewokwu, the traditional ruler of Ogodor kingdom in Aniocha north local government area of Delta state.

“The herdsmen ambushed the traditional ruler around Ezi and Onicha-Olona communities on Sunday evening and injured some of his aides who tried to foil the abduction,” the source said.

Olisewokwu is the chairman of traditional rulers in Aniocha.

Some residents of the community were said to have sustained injuries in the incident.

A traditional ruler in the town said the development has sparked tension among residents.

He said the kidnappers had not contacted the family members or the council chiefs.

When contacted, Andrew Aniamaka, spokesman of the police in the state, said he needed time to provide details.

The state government is yet to react to the incident.
