Aregbesola Pays Workers 4 Months Salary Few Days To Election

The Osun State Government has disbursed a whopping N19.8‎ billion for the payment of salaries of staff and pensioners in the state.

 

‎This huge amount, according to the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, covers the full salaries of August 2018, backlog of the salaries and pensions of September to December 2015‎ and leave bonuses.

 

Oyebamiji revealed that Governor Rauf Aregbesola gave the directive after consultation with the labour unions and other stakeholders in the state.

 

He stated this on Thursday while addressing the media at the Ministry of Finance, state Secretariat, Osogbo. Oyebamiji disclosed that the payment was made with the N16.6 billion latest Paris Club refunds received by the state from the federal government.

 

He said the state added N3 billion accrued from other sources to the Paris Club refunds to ensure the payment.

 

The commissioner said this is not the first time the Aregbesola administration will commit such lump sums received from the federal government to pay salaries and pensions of workers.
