Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested to his Manchester United players that they need to win all six games left to secure a Champions League spot next season.
The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wolves at the Molineux which dealt the club a major blow to their top four finish in the Premier League this season.
United would have been in third position if they had won and would have handed them a major boost to play in the elite competition next season.
If Chelsea defeat Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, April 3, Solskjaer men will slip down to
sixth with just six matches left to play.
And if Tottenham register their first win at their new stadium against Crystal Palace, it will see United slip further within touching distance.
The Norwegian boss has admitted that his team will need to win all but one of their remaining matches to stand a chance for a top four finish.
And since one of the last six fixtures involves a derby against Manchester City, Solskjaer will be leaving no room for one more defeat.
He said: “We need 15 points in the last six games [to make the top four], so we don’t have room for many more losses.
“The crunch game against their city rivals on April 24, puts further pressure on United to get maximum points in their next two matches”
Man United have a weekend off due to the FA Cup semi-final matches, which could allow Arsenal and Chelsea gather more points in the meantime.
The Gunners travel to Goodison Park to play Everton on Friday before Maurizio Sarri’s side take on West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers are United’s next opponent on April 13, and there is potential that by kick-off, Solskjaer’s side will be six points off a top four spot.
And Solskjaer’s men can not afford to drop points from that match and the trip to Everton a week later heading into the City clash.
