Donald Trump, President of the U.S has signed a memo banning transgender people from joining the nation’s military henceforth. In a series of tweets, Trump said:

But Trump has left the fate of those already serving in the hands of the Pentagon. He directed the military “to return to the longstanding policy and practice on military service by transgender individuals prior to June 2016″ – to go into effect as from 23 March 2018.

According to AFP reports, five Transgender women in America are suing the Pentagon and Trump over the tweets saying they faced uncertainty about their futures, including whether they would be fired or lose post-military and retirement benefits.
