Militia members and locals, disclosed on Saturday, that at least seven people were killed in an attack carried out by Boko Haram jihadists on a Camp for people displaced by conflict in northeast Nigeria.

The attack came on Friday evening in Ngala, near the border with Cameroon, as two people were killed in an explosion outside another Camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.

A Civilian Militia member in Ngala, Umar Kachalla, reported that the attack took place at about 8:00 p.m., with jihadists in two pick-up trucks firing a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) at the Camp, which houses about 80,000 people.

“They fired an RPG into the Camp from behind the fire fence, killing seven people and injuring several others,” he reported from the neighbouring town of Gamboru.

Boko Haram seized the trading hubs of Ngala and Gamboru in August, 2014, but Nigerian troops retook both towns in September, 2015. However, Boko Haram still launches sporadic attacks on the areas.
