The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to accept the proposal of the Federal Government and end the ongoing strike action.
The National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Association, Bestman Okereafor, made the appeal in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu on Saturday.
Already, the Federal Government had agreed to set up a seven-man joint Committee to look into the demands of ASUU, and had agreed to release billions of Naira to meet the requests of the Union.
“NANS is passionately appealing to ASUU to consider the offer made by the Federal Government in the interest of Nigerian students,”Okereafor said.
The National leadership of ASUU said that it had accepted the proposals of the Federal Government but would have to take it to the various member States and Universities first.
