Talks have been flying that the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan may get sacked after the comments she made about her 100 percent loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying that she he would have her full support even if Buhari decides to run for the Presidency in 2019.
A member of the President’s cabinet, who spoke under the cover of anonymity, said that Buhari already knew that the Minister was a die-hard Atiku loyalist before appointing her as a Minister.
“Buhari is not going to sack or dismiss her. The attitude in the Presidency is to let her go on her own if she has 100 percent loyalty to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar,” he said.
“And for Aisha to say that she was appointed a Minister on the basis of her strength is false. The President appointed her on the basis of his conviction, despite her loyalty to Atiku.
They are making noise now in order to draw out the President. She won’t be sacked or dropped because she will now make noise as if an injustice has been meted out to her,” the source said.
According to another source, “We want her to remain in government and exercise her freedom of expression to the fullest. No one will tamper with her rights and privileges. We need to learn from the past.
“We also want to demonstrate that there can be opposition in a government without any consequences. This is the essence of democracy,” the source said.
