The former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Hussaini Akwanga, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday, has been released.
Akwanga was forcefully taken away from his farm in Kurmin Tagwaye Village, Nasarawa State. However, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Abubakar Bello, has confirmed the release.
The Commissioner said that he got information at about 6:00 p.m., that Alhaji Hussaini Akwanga had been released by his captors, and that he looked hale and hearty. He however said that he was not aware whether a ransom was paid or not.
Bello also claimed that five persons had been arrested in the process of investigations and search and rescue, and that they were undergoing interrogation.
