The Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dr Pascal Dozie, on Monday said that Nigeria’s large dependence on oil at the expense of agriculture, had positioned the nation wrongly.
He said that the time had come for Nigeria to reduce its dependence on oil, and face agriculture.
Dozie said that Nigeria was more of an agricultural country than an oil-producing nation, and urged that agriculture be glamorised, so that young men and women no longer see it as a menial thing.
“We all, whether we are directly involved in agriculture or not, should begin to see how our work would impact on agriculture.
We need to know that from agriculture, we can feed ourselves, create employment and earn foreign exchange for ourselves and our country,” Dozie said.
