After an emergency General Meeting of the Osun State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Assocatin (NMA) in Osogbo, the Chairman of the Association in the State, Dr Tokunbo Olajumoke on Monday, ordered the members working with the State Government to embark on a 7-day warning Strike over unpaid salary arrears and poor working conditions.

Olajumoke said that the 7-day warning Strike is coming up because the Government failed to meet their demands within the 21-day ultimatum which the Association gave.

“Within those seven days, there will not be any form of clinical activities in all the State-owned hospitals, and no doctor is allowed to treat any patient for those seven days.”

Olajumoke also said that the 7-day warning Strike was to give the Government another chance at dialogue, in order to look into their demands.

In reaction to the Strike notice, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, appealed to the doctors to be patient, saying that the State Government was looking into their requests.

Isamotu said that the Government was committed to providing quality healthcare to the populace, and also to ensuring that doctors got the best from the Government.
