The Rapid Response Squad (RSS) of the Nigeria Police Force has advised Nigerians against buying second-handed phones popularly called ‘London-used’ unless they know the source.
The Squad gave this warning on their Facebook Page on Friday, 29th September, 2017.
To make their warning sink in well, the RSS shared the story of a young man, Jamiu Adebayo, who was arrested after ‘buying’ a ‘London-used’ iPhone which, in fact, had been stolen from a Banker, and attempting to resell it.
Adebayo, who was caught with 6 additional iPhones, 4 other phones and 3 SIM packs, confessed that he regularly bought stolen phones from robbers, to resell.
He confessed that he bought the stolen phones at cheap rates, disguised them as London-used phones, and resold them at higher rates.
