Former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has expressed his endorsement of former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), for the position of National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Babangida declared his support for the former Governor on Wednesday, 4th October, during a visit by Daniel to his hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger State.
Report has it that Daniel made the decision to visit the former Head of State, saying that no serious Nigerian politician would seek such an important position without first seeking Babangida’s blessing.
Babangida, in response, said that he was elated when he heard that Daniel was volunteering himself for such a position, expressing that the former Governor represented the breath of fresh air that the party deserved.
“I know OGD very well, and I know his unparalleled capacity for work. I have a strong conviction that with OGD as Chairman, the Party can be turned around again.
“I am supporting you because I know you very well. OGD, you’re my Chairman in waiting,” IBB said.
