Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has explained how President Muhammadu Buhari plans to actualise his promise of providing 360,000 jobs for youths throughout the country.
Emefiele disclosed this at a Stakeholders’ meeting, unfolding the operation framework for the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS), under which the jobs will be created.
He said that at least 10,000 youths in each State, aged between 18 and 35, would be employed and trained if they are willing to engage in sustainable and profitable activities in Agriculture.
The CBN Governor also said that the State Governments were expected to provide contiguous arable land, basic infrastructure and training for the beneficiaries, while the CBN would provide financing at single-digit interest rates.
Also, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development would provide technical support for the project.
