2019: Atiku thinks twice about PDP as Makarfi and Lamido prepare

Even though there have been overt attempts by Stakeholders in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to have Atiku Abubakar back in the Party, speculations are that the former Vice President may not take the offer as there are oppositions in the top hierarchy of the Party.

With the outgoing Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, reportedly planning towards the Presidency, an obvious block stands against the former VP.

Furthermore, report has it that former Governor Sule Lamido is also set to kick off his campaign for the ticket with the opening of his North-West Presidential Campaign Office in Kaduna later this month. This is to be followed by the opening of an Abuja Office.

According to Vanguard, it is believed that those moves may make Atiku think twice about running under the PDP.

Meanwhile, a number of the former Vice President’s close associates who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with him have already commenced moves back to the PDP to support his Presidential intention.

Makarfi, as a Governor of Kaduna State, promoted peace in the State, and that is a factor that is believed will support his current ambition.
