US President Donald Trump’s comments had left many wondering in the past, but his recent comment to a US Sergeant’s widow has left many in a state of total disbelief.
US Army Sgt. La David Johnson, 25, was killed in a deadly ambush in Niger on 4th October, and it took President Trump nearly two weeks to reach out to the Sergeant’s widow, Myeshia Johnson. When he eventually did, his words to her were far from comforting.
Trump said, “He knew what he signed up for… but when it happens, it hurts anyway.”
The President reportedly called Myeshia Johnson while she was headed to Miami International Airport on Tuesday afternoon to meet the body of her late husband, and made the insensitive remarks.
Americans have criticised Trump for the comment, describing it as offensive. But the President denied the claims, saying that it was total fabrication.
