Shekau’s wife feared dead after airstrikes on Durwawa

The Nigerian Air Force says available Intelligence  indicates that the wife of Abubakar Shekau,  leader of the Boko Haram sect, Mallama Fitdasi, may have been killed in recent successful airstrikes on Durwawa settlement, near Konduga.

Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, said in a statement that Mallama Fitdasi was reported to have been representing her husband in a coordinating meeting with other terrorists at the location of the airstrikes.

The Nigerian Air Force had earlier reported the successful aerial attack of a large number of terrorists at Durwawa on 19th October 2017.

The Battle Damage Assessment had revealed that the aerial attack had neutralized most of the terrorists with a few of them fleeing the location.

Air Commodore Adesanya says efforts are ongoing to confirm the death of Shekau’s wife.

In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force has commenced the second phase of Operation Ruwan Wuta in parts of Northeast Nigeria. The operation, which translates to Rain of Fire,  is aimed at sustaining day and night aerial bombardments against identified hideouts of Boko haram terrorists.
