Retired Colonel, Chief Alao Dauda, who was charged with murder, has asked of an Ogun State High Court, to be granted bail.
The 76-year-old’s Lawyer, Mr Wale Ajayi, made the bail application in which the applicant said that he had been on hospital admission before he got arrested and detained.
Claiming to have been suffering from hypertention and severe pain from gunshot injuries which he sustained during his years in the Nigerian Military, the applicant claimed to need constant medical attention.
While urging the Court to grant his client bail, Ajayi claimed that the offences for which his client was being charged, were bailable at the discretion of the Court. According to him, the applicant voluntarily submitted himself to the Police.
Dauda was arrested for alleged conspiracy to murder the Olowo of Owoland, Oba Patrick Fasinu, and his subsequent incineration. However, Dauda claimed that it was all a setup to get him executed extra-judicially.
He said that this was because he refused the request of a younger brother of the Late Oba to be installed as the successor of the murdered Monarch.
