Calabar Electrocution: Crutech Students Protest Colleagues Death 

Students of the Cross River University of Technology,Calabar have taken their Protest to Governor’s office, over  the lost of their colleague who died as a result of power surge  .

The students, who accused the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company for the cause of  frequent electrocution in the state want government to find lasting solution to the problem.

 

Speaking through their leader,Joseph Harmony,the students said Daniel Asuquo, who was a student in the department of Architecture, was one of the two people killed during an incident of electrocution at Adak Uko area of Calabar south.

 

Addressing the protesting Students, Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on technical matters Eric Akpo said  government will look into the increasing rate  of the electrocution in Calabar as a result of high power tension cables ,assuring that assistance will be given to the family of the affected victims.

 

AIT Rasheed Olanrewaju reports that cases of electrocution caused by PHEDC cables which led to death of citizens  have been on the increase in Calabar in the recent times some of which are Inyang Asang Viewing Centre,Bogobiri,Ekpo Abasi among others.
