Speaking with state house correspondents shortly after the meeting, leader of the group Senator Abu Ibrahim said they were at the Aso Rock  Villa to pledge their support for the president for the good job he has been doing since assuming office.

Senator Ibrahim and the senate leader Ahmed Lawal noted that the Buhari Support Group will encourage the President to seek a second term in office come 2019 presidential election.

They explained that having fulfill his three main campaign promises of fighting corruption, tackling the Book Haram insurgency in the northeast as well as revitalising the economy; it is only logical that he should be encouraged to continue with his good work.

The group pledged to continue to support president Buhari and the APC even beyond 2019.
