President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday announced that he plans to expand the Federal Executive Council, an indication more ministers are to be appointed into the cabinet.
Mr. Buhari stated this in his address to the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
“The compressed Federal Executive Council will be expanded to bring in more supporters at Federal Level, with fresh ideas to be injected into the government,” the president said.
Currently, the FEC meets once a week and is made up of one minister from each state of the federation.
The Nigerian constitution requires that at least one minister must come from each state.
In his speech to the APC NEC held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the president also thanked the governors of the party and the leadership of the National Assembly.
