The beneficiaries, who were mainly housewives, widows and the handicapped, received between N10,000 and N20,000 each from the wife of Governor Aminu Masari, Zakiya.
In all, 200 women received sewing machines and kits while 80 got spaghetti/flour-moulding machines. The rest were given bags of flour and money.
Zakiya told the gathering on Saturday that the donations were her own contribution to the uplift of women in the state.
She said, “This is our token towards ensuring that women in the state have means of livelihood which in turn will assist them to contribute meaningfully to their respective families, and by extension, the development of our state.
“We shall not relent in our efforts at ensuring that we, women in the state, also stand up to be counted when it comes to meaningful contribution to the family.”
A beneficiary from the Maiadua Local Government Area, Hajiya Mero Jemilu, a widow, said the sewing machine would assist her in raising money for her family upkeep.
She thanked the governor’s wife for her kind gesture.
“I am very grateful to her Excellency. May Allah reward her and her family abundantly,” she said.
