The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has said that the place of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu could not be waved aside in Nigeria’s politics, noting that although Tinubu is stubborn, his stubbornness is paying off in Lagos State.
Oba Akiolu, who said this, in Ibadan yesterday, at the launch of a N50 billion Education Trust Fund in Oyo State, said that Tinubu’s stubbornness made him the last man standing during the PDP onslaught in the South West.
The Lagos Monarch also lauded Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s outstanding performance in Lagos, saying that the foundation laid by Tinubu in the State was being built upon by his successors.
He said, “I am his (Tinubu) father and the father for all, and I will continue to be their father. I don’t hide my feelings; nobody can take away Lagos from APC. At the Federal level, all hands need to be on deck.”
Oba Akiolu, who was accompanied by some other traditional Monarchs to the event, also assured the gathering that the lingering Chieftaincy crisis between the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, would soon be over.
In his address at the event, Governor Abiola Ajimobi said that the launching of the Education Trust Fund was part of his administration’s efforts at revamping Education in the state.
He noted that Education was too important to be left alone in the hands of the Government, adding that there was the need to engage the public, hence the effort at initiating the fund with pragmatic effort to reposition and bring back quality Education in the State.
