No posting of NYSC members to unsafe areas

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has disclosed that no corps member would be posted to areas where there are security challenges.

He stated this in an address to the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream One corps members at the orientation camps in Tsafe, Zamfara State and Wamakko in Sokoto State.

He said the security of every corps member was a matter of priority to the management of the NYSC scheme.Kazaure urged the corps members to obey constituted authorities throughout their service year and thereafter.

According to him, their status as corps members is not immunity against being prosecuted, if they violate the laws of the country and advised them to be courteous when dealing with security men.

The DG said the act of nation building is the collective effort of citizens of the country and urged them to contribute their quota as graduates.

He also urged them to acquire entrepreneurship skills while in camp to forestall unemployment after their service year.

Kazaure further advised the corps members to respect the culture of their host communities, stressing that females should dress decently to avoid unwarranted provocation.

The Zamfara State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Walida Isa, who led the DG to inspect facilities at the camp, said the corps members were diligent and highly disciplined.

Also, her Sokoto State counterpart, Musa Abubakar, told the DG that they had shown interest in acquiring vocational skills to become entrepreneurs.
