In a bid to tackle insecurity in Akwa Ibom, the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, has provided jobs for over 20,000 youths.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, who made this known while interacting with 45 participants/administrative staff members of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, who paid him a visit in Uyo, the capital, said that with the realisation that the youth were critical to the growth and development of any society, deliberate efforts must be made to produce quality and productive young men and women to safeguard the future as well as stem insecurity in the country.
According to Udoh, the state since the inception of Emmanuel’s administration has empowered youths in the areas of Information and Communication Technology, digital marketing, agro-based ventures and soft loans.
He said that the administration had made the security of lives and property a priority, adding that the government had facilitated the establishment of the Naval Technical College in Ekparakwa, Oruk Anam, to boost security in the area.
The leader of the visiting delegation and Deputy Commandant of the AFCSC, Jaji, Rear Admiral I. O. Mohammed, commended Emmanuel for providing the people of Akwa Ibom with good social amenities.
